Taking Piano Lessons in Utah

Although I have only taken a few piano lessons in Utah, I would like to share my experience. When Iwas around the age of twelve my mom wanted me to take piano lessons. My Father played piano verywell and NEVER had a lesson. I wanted to be like my Father and NEVER have to take a lesson. Aftertaking a few piano lessons in Utah from a skilled piano teacher I simply stop going.
I decided not to go any more not because I thought that I was better than others, but because I was notinterested in the “structure” of it all. I don’t like HAVING to follow the rules. I see rules as “more likeguidelines” anyway. After taking a little break from piano lessons but still playing the piano, my Momsigned me up again.
This second time of sign up was with a different teacher and lasted a whole 20 minutes before I wasdone. This second teacher had more structure and rules than the first.
Do I still play piano? Yes, yes I do. Can I read music? No, no I can’t. I can however sit at a piano andplay what I want to. I can often play was I hear. Do I wish that I would have stayed with the pianolessons? Yes, I really do. It would be really nice if I were able to read music and follow the structurethat piano has.
